LAS VEGAS - Fed up with a rash of holiday package thefts in his neighborhood, a Las Vegas man decided to turn the tables on crooks carrying out the grinch-like crime wave.

Eric Snow did it with help from his dog, Heidi.

The 38-year-old Army vet told 3 News rather than calling the cops, he would take matters into his own hands. Snow took an authentic looking "bait" package filled with dog doo left by the 95-pound German Shepherd and put it out on his steps to lure in package thieves.

"Stuffed it full of reprocessed dog chow," Snow laughed.

His surveillance system captured two men driving up in a green car Saturday afternoon and pilfering the package. Neighbors laughed when thinking about when the crooks opened it up.

"I thought it was hilarious," chuckled Sandra Goodwin. "Hopefully these people will realize we're tired of them."
