Women 'Crushing It' Wednesday: Twin Spirits Distillery owner Michelle Winchester

It's a business run by women in a male-dominated industry.

MINNEAPOLIS - Nestled in Northeast Minneapolis, Twin Spirits Distillery is the first one-woman-owned distillery in Minnesota.

Owner Michelle Winchester decided to launch the business after turning 50, and has grown it into a space that produces five products (two vodkas, gin, rum and moonshine whiskey) that are sold in around fifty liquor stores across the Twin Cities. Their space also features a cocktail room that’s open Wednesday through Sunday.

“The biggest thing for me was learning to listen to my gut,” Winchester said. “The more I did trust my gut, the better off things were and the more authentic they were.”

The business is women-run and features a lot of women working as bartenders in the cocktail room, Winchester explained.

“There’s something about right now and women coming together,” she said.
