BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. — When Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen signed his new 4-year, $64.2 million dollar contract in the off season he said he wanted to use some of that to help kids in Minnesota.
On Tuesday his Thielen Foundation kicked-off an exclusive partnership with Brooklyn Center High School by introducing a new youth education achievement program with the goal of closing the achievement gap for girls and boys student athletes in the district.
With the support of its partners - ETS Sports Performance, SCHEELS, Adidas, Pizza Hut, Kind Bars, and MATTER - the Thielen Foundation will provide necessary resources and equipment for student athletes to excel both on and off the field.
In addition to donating $10,000 dollars of new sports equipment (distributed across all sports), The foundation will renovate the Centaurs’ weight room, provide each student-athlete with a $75 sports equipment gift card from SCHEELS, cover athletic fees (as needed throughout the year), and offer nutritious snacks for student-athletes to help them play to their full potential.
Thielen spoke with enthusiasm about why he decided to help out, and how he hopes this project can grow to more schools in Minnesota.
