Blake senior named Ms. Hockey, White Bear Lake senior Goalie of the Year

Madeline Wethington, a senior defenseman at the Blake School, took home the 24th annual Ms. Hockey Award. The Goalie of the Year honor was awarded to Calla Frank, a White Bear Lake Area High School senior.

MINNEAPOLIS — Two top high school hockey honors - Ms. Hockey and the Goalie of the Year - have been announced for this year in Minnesota.

Madeline Wethington, a senior defenseman at the Blake School, took home the 24th annual Ms. Hockey Award. That award is based on academics, community and extracurricular activities, citizenship, coachability and on-ice performance.

Wethington was ranked fourth on her team in scoring and will graduate as one of the most decorated girls' high school hockey players ever. She's won three state championships and one runner-up title, and has been named all-state four times. She's won gold three times for the U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team. She'll go on to play at the University of Minnesota.

The Goalie of the Year honor was awarded to Calla Frank, a White Bear Lake Area High School senior.

Frank has been the goalie of record for nearly 80 percent of games since her 8th grade year. Her career record - 60-45-7 with 21 shutouts - is the best in school history in both wins and shutouts. She was a member of the gold-winning U.S. Women's National Under-18 Team in 2018, and will play at Minnesota State in the fall.

The awards are both sponsored by Let's Play Hockey, the Minnesota Wild, GoodWood Hockey and OS Hockey.
