Building a prep hockey dynasty in South St. Paul

South St. Paul girls hockey is approaching a huge milestone.

SOUTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - Minnesota was the first state to officially sanction girls hockey as a high school sport back in 1994.

Now, close to a quarter of a century later, the sport is thriving and the talent level is getting extremely deep.

Since the beginning, South Saint Paul has been a force to be reckoned with. The winningest team in the state is now sitting on the cusp of another milestone with 499 career victories.

Through it all, Dave Palmquist has been the Packers head coach. He has seen the change in the girls' game, and managed to keep his team's powerhouses as the sport evolves.
