MINNEAPOLIS — For the first time ever, the No. 7 seed Minnesota softball team will host a Super Regional this weekend.
It's just the second Super Regional in program history for the Gophers, who made their first appearance back in 2014 when they fell to Oregon in two games.
The Gophers will battle LSU with a shot at the team's first Women's College World Series in the NCAA era on the line.
The Gophers advanced to Super Regionals with a 3-0 win over NDSU, a 2-1 victory in extra innings over Georgia and an 8-1 win in the Regional Championship game against Georgia.

Friday's game will be at 4 p.m. on ESPN 2.
Saturday is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN 2.
If necessary: Sunday will be at 3 p.m. on ESPN.
