MINNEAPOLIS — The red-hot Minnesota football Gophers may finally be getting a bit of respect.
After a 34-7 beatdown of Nebraska ran their record to 6-0 on the season, the Maroon and Gold find themselves ranked No. 20 in the latest AP Poll, and in the same position in the Coaches Poll.
It's the first time the Gophers have been ranked in the AP Poll since 2014, and the team's highest ranking since being slotted as No. 20 in 2008.
Including wins in the final two games of the 2018-19 season, Minnesota has now won eight straight games, tied for the fourth longest in the nation. They are one of 12 undefeated teams in college football.
The Gophers play at Rutgers this Saturday and then host Maryland on Oct. 26.
