Champlin Park gymnast seeks third straight all-around title

Chaney Neu isn’t feeling the pressure of the three-peat but rather enjoying the competition along the way.

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Chaney Neu has been a varsity gymnast since she was in seventh grade. The teenager won her first Class 2A all-around title as an eighth grader at Champlin Park High School, she followed that up with another as a freshman last year and this season is looking her third straight as a sophomore.

Neu isn’t feeling the pressure of the three-peat but rather enjoying the competition along the way.

“I’m just really excited for state to come. I don’t come into the meet thinking I’m trying to win or trying to win three times in a row. I just go into it trying to do my best. All season I’ve been doing pretty good, I just try to be positive and just try to think to try to have fun and just enjoy it while you’re there.”

The state girls gymnastics meet will be held February 22 to February 23 at Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus.
