The Minnesota Lynx announced on Tuesday night that they have acquired guard Rachel Banham from the Connecticut Sun in a sign-and-trade deal in exchange for a 2021 second-round pick.

“We are excited to welcome Rachel home to Minnesota,” Lynx head coach and general manager Cheryl Reeve said in a statement. “Her ability to shoot the ball is something we valued during this process and we look forward to having her in a Lynx uniform this season and beyond.”

Banham has spent the previous 4 seasons with the Sun after being selected by the team as the fourth overall pick in the 2016 WNBA Draft. She spent her college career setting records for the Minnesota Gophers, wrapping up her career as the Big Ten’s career scoring leader with 3,093 points, the sixth-best total in NCAA history.

Banham was also a first team All-American and one of just 11 players in NCAA history to score 3,000 points. She made 354 3-pointers during her career, a U of M program record, and averaged 28.6 points per game as a senior.

Rachel tied the NCAA record for points in a game when she scored 60 in a double-overtime win at Northwestern on February 7, 2016
