Twins select 3 players on first day of MLB Draft

MINNEAPOLIS — The Twins drafted California high school infielder Keoni Cavaco with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the 2019 first-year player draft on Monday night. The 18-year-old is 6-foot-1, 180 pounds and just completed his senior season at Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, Calif. 

Minnesota also selected Forest Lake's Matt Wallner with the 39th overall pick. Wallner is a junior outfielder at Southern Mississippi. He was originally drafted by the team in 2016 in the 32nd round but chose to attend college. 

The Twins selected Rice pitcher Matthew Canterino in the second round with the 54th overall pick. 

The three-day draft continues tomorrow before wrapping up on Wednesday.
