Team of moms brave elements at Pond Hockey Championship

Named after the aquatic plant, this group of women has played in the North American Pond Hockey Championship on Lake Minnetonka since it's inception.

EXCELSIOR, Minn. — These moms are on a mission. 

Even in the driving snow, Captain Sue Akins and her team compete in the North American Pond Hockey Championship. They are named after a certain aquatic plant. 

On Lake Minnetonka, they've played in every tournament since it's inception over a decade ago. 

These ladies remain motivated taking on the younger generation. They're focused to win and make their own kids proud. 

The tournament continues on Saturday and into Sunday for the finals.
