APPLE VALLEY, Minn. – The Eastview High School girls basketball team notched their twentieth win of the season Wednesday night as they bested Park of Cottage Grove 48-42.
That win keeps their undefeated record this season still intact. Remarkable, considering the team lost five players last year, three of which were starters.
“Its my third year with a lot of these girls, so we have a good connection on the court and off the court,” says Eastview's head coach Molly Kasper.
While Kasper's somewhat calm on-the-court coaching is proving effective, the off-the-court coaching is plays just as big a role.
Right now, the team is learning how to "trust and embrace the process" by reading "Chop Wood Carry Water."
However, its the team's motto that has them seeing the big picture: "Zoom Out"
“Every night it might not be one person who is stepping up scoring wise," says Kasper, "but it's how can you make your teammates better every single day.”
She says it might not seem flashy to other people or college scouts, but it is working really well for them. The proof is in their results.
"Its really unique," says Eastview Senior Megan Walstad. "It speaks to us as a team and really represents us well."
