Women's hockey: Gophers to face Cornell in Frozen Four semifinal

“The Frozen Four is special. It’s not a guarantee every year. I think, in Minnesota in particular, people think it’s automatic and it’s very easy, and it’s just not,” coach Brad Frost said.

They're the winners of four of the last five NCAA women's hockey titles, but the Minnesota Gophers, on paper at least, will be the underdog at the Frozen Four this year as the only unseeded team to advance to the national semifinals. The Gophers' women's hockey team have skated their way to the semifinals and are facing Cornell at 3 p.m. Friday.

The winner goes on to play the NCAA championship Sunday afternoon.

The Gophers are on their way to possibly win their eighth national championship. But Coach Brad Frost knows not to take this opportunity for granted.

“The Frozen Four is special. It’s not a guarantee every year. I think, in Minnesota in particular, people think it’s automatic and it’s very easy, and it’s just not,” Frost said.

The game takes place at  People’s United Center, Hamden, CT.
