X Games begin for second year in Minnesota

Over 200 athletes will compete in 19 different disciplines over the next several days.

MINNEAPOLIS - The Twin Cities have a front row seat to some of the best in extreme sports this weekend.

“The way that we actually set up the venue and construct the event, it allows our fans to get really close,” says X Games Vice President Tim Reed.

Over 200 athletes will compete in 19 different disciplines over the next several days. If you're looking for a night to check out the competition, Reed says Saturday night is always a fan favorite. That night is the BMX Dirt Final, Moto Best Trick Final and the Skateboard Big Air Final. “Within the course of three or four hours you're going to see four different amazing events,” Reed says.

That's all inside U.S. Bank Stadium and outside is what they call “X Fest”, with things set up for fans to experience.

You can buy general admission tickets for both “X Fest” and competition inside starting at $20. General admission tickets start at $40 on Saturday.

After competition there is live music taking the stage at the Armory next door. Friday night Kaskade performs, Saturday night it’s Ice Cube and then Zedd takes the stage on Sunday. You have to pay extra to get into those shows.
