That's So Minnesota: Munsinger Clemens Gardens

Flowers are in full bloom at this St. Cloud gem.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — It took us an hour to drive to St. Cloud, but it only took me five minutes to fall in love with Munsinger Clemens Gardens.

I left thinking, "Ellery, why did it take you a year to visit?" My advice to you, if you love flowers, and if you want a peaceful place to check out, these gardens are perfect.

About a week ago, I was thinking about where to go for my next Photo Stop. I looked through my list and near the bottom was a suggestion from my KARE 11 colleague Jeremiah Jacobsen.

Thank you, JJ!

The gardens are split into two sections. Munsinger Gardens sits along the Mississippi River. Its about 14 acres and it's filled with brilliant color.

Tall trees, walking paths, a beautiful pond and benches are a great spot to relax and take in the beauty.

The variety of colors and plants were exquisite. I could have taken photos there all day!

But I continued my journey up the hill to Clemens Gardens. This space is more open with intricately lined rows of flowers and plants.

There are also multiple fountains, including a large one that you can't miss.

This spot has a special story behind it. According to the Munsinger Clemens Botanical Society, this land was donated to the City of St. Cloud on behalf of Bill and Virginia Clemens. Virginia battled multiple sclerosis for many years and she loved flowers. So, Bill dedicated part of this garden in her honor. Today, there's a statue in honor of them both.

In this section, you'll find several gardens featuring roses and perennials.
