LAKE CRYSTAL, Minn. — A southern Minnesota woman is dead after the vehicle she was riding in was cut off, and perhaps hit by an SUV driver who then fled the scene Thursday.

The State Patrol website says 20-year-old Jalynn Rose Williams of Mankato was a passenger in a Chevy Blazer that was eastbound on State Highway 60 near Lake Crystal just after 4:40 p.m. when a Ford SUV cut the driver off, perhaps making contact. The Blazer hit the ditch and rolled, while the Ford careened into the median and then sped off. The SUV and its driver have not been located.

Williams was rushed to a hospital in Mankato where she died of her injuries. Troopers say she was not wearing a seatbelt.

The 26-year-old driver of the Blazer Williams was riding in was wearing his seatbelt, and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone who knows the location of the suspected hit-and-run vehicle or its driver is asked to call the Minnesota State Patrol, Lake Crystal Police or the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office.
