MINNEAPOLIS — A crash on westbound I-94 in Minneapolis is causing major traffic backups Wednesday morning.

Minnesota State Patrol confirmed the crash, which happened near Franklin Avenue, as fatal. The agency is still investigating.

Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) cameras show traffic delays continue back to Prior Avenue.

MnDOT says all lanes of I-94 west at Highway 280 are currently shut down. The patrol estimates the highway will remain closed for up to four hours as the crash is reconstructed and cleaned up.

This is a developing story. KARE 11 will provide more details as new information becomes available.
