ST PAUL, Minn. — A shutdown of one of the Twin Cities metro's busier transportation arteries could make things a bit challenging for motorists this weekend.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) says Highway 100 will be closed in both directions starting at 10 p.m. Friday, and ending at 5 a.m. Monday. The closure is for work on the Southwest Light Rail project.

The suggested detour is Highway 169 north to I-394 east.

On Oct. 20 and 21 Interstate 94 will be closed in both directions in downtown Minneapolis to wash the Lowry tunnel and perform needed electrical repairs. That work will be done during the overnight hours.

Here are some other projects to keep in mind as you try to get around in coming days.

  • I-94 east is closed between Highway 55 and the ramp from Hennepin/Lyndale Avenue to I-94 east from 10 p.m. Oct. 20 to 5 a.m. Oct. 21, and 10 p.m. Oct. 21 to 5 a.m. Oct. 22
  • The ramp from I-394 east to I-94 east is closed from 10 p.m. Oct. 20 to 5 a.m. Oct. 21, and 10 p.m. Oct. 21 to 5 a.m. Oct. 22
  • The ramp from Highway 55 to I-94 east is closed from 10 p.m. Oct. 20 to 5 a.m. Oct. 21, and 10 p.m. Oct. 21 to 5 a.m. Oct. 22
  • I-94 west is closed between Hennepin/Lyndale Avenue exit and Highway 55 from 10 p.m. Oct. 20 to 5 a.m. Oct. 21, and 10 p.m. Oct. 21 to 5 a.m. Oct. 22.
  • The ramp from Highway 55 west to I-94 west is closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 for tunnel washing. (Tunnel leads from 55 to 94 west)
