BRANDON, Minn. — One person is dead and a man is in the hospital after their motorcycle crashed into a ditch near Brandon on Tuesday night.

Douglas County Sheriffs say a man riding with the couple called 911 around 9:20 p.m. to report their bike had just crashed into a ditch on the south side of County Road 108 NW north of Brandon.

The man said the bike's driver, 44-year-old Shawn Olson of Brandon was injured, and that the man wasn't sure if Olson's passenger was breathing.

Multiple agencies rushed to the scene, including Minnesota State Patrol, Douglas County deputies and Brandon first responders.

Olson was airlifted from the scene by LifeLink III and taken to Sanford Hospital in Fargo with what police describe as life-threatening injuries.

The motorcycle's passenger was declared dead at the scene. Their name has not been released, pending family notification.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
