LAKEVILLE, Minn. — Two tow truck operators are recovering from injuries suffered when a motorist struck them while they were working to remove a vehicle from I-35 early Monday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the incident happened just before 2 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate, just south of Lakeville in Rice County. A report on the MSP website says the tow operators were working to remove a vehicle from the center median when the driver of a black 2006 Lincoln MKZ made contact with them and did not stop.

Both victims are from Faribault: One, a 39-year-old man, was transported to Allina Health Faribault Medical Center while a 23 year old man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Both were suffering from injuries reported as non-life threatening.

Investigators say the Lincoln sedan will have damage to the driver's side door and is missing the side mirror.

Anyone with information on the incident or the driver responsible is asked to call the Minnesota State Patrol at 507-285-7409.
