NAMIBIA - I've just started my journey through Namibia, and one of my first stops is the Namib Desert.
This is where sand and dust from all over Southern Africa settles just before reaching the Atlantic Ocean, creating the world's largest sand dunes.
The Namib Desert is the oldest desert on the planet at 55 million years old. Obviously, living conditions can be pretty tough.

However, occasionally this area floods with rain - every several years or so. When there is some water, living things and plants can grow.
But then the sand dunes can cut off that source of water. When that happens, trees die and become petrified; because it’s so dry, they don’t really decompose. So, some of the trees that are dead can be hundreds of years old.
Next, I'm heading to the Atlantic coast where I'll be meeting up with a school. Students are learning about saving their rhinos - and will also receive a gift from an Eden Prairie school!
