This story is going viral around the world.

A whale that washed up in the Philippines had 88 pounds of plastic in its stomach.

That was including 16 rice sacks and multiple shopping bags.

The Cuvier's beaked whale was analyzed by researchers who said they were not prepared for how much plastic they'd find.

You may recall another dead whale that made headlines last year in Thailand. A pilot whale died with 80 plastic bags discovered in it.

Southeast Asia is a particular plastic polluter. China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand account for 60 percent of ocean plastic waste.
