With a Heat Advisory covering most of southern Minnesota and an Excessive Heat Watch in place for the metro, this hot foreacst is serious business. Please take care to stay hydrated and stay cool as best you can by spending some time in air conditioning or at least the shade for the holiday on Monday. High temperatures are forecast in the upper 90s with heat index values at or above 100 degrees. Most of the day is hot and a bit humid before afternoon and evening thunderstorms develop in an isolated fashion. Not everyone gets wet.
A better chance of more widespread storms set up Tuesday evening through Thursday. This is the system that will break our heat wave and "cool" us down into the 80s. More seasonal 70s are in the forecast by next weekend.
