Thousands of jobs available statewide for professionals of color

Need a job? There's a career fair coming up this weekend, aimed at employing thousands of professionals of color.

Minnesota is hiring!

Some of the state’s top companies are looking to employ thousands of professionals of color. According to a recent Greater MSP study, Minnesota will face a workplace shortage of about 106,400 workers by 2020.

Research reveals professionals of color leave the region about 77 percent faster than their white counterparts.

The 2018 Professionals of Color Career Fair aims to help lower the unemployment gap between minorities and non-minorities.

The free event is Friday, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Advance registration is strongly encouraged.

Job seekers are asked to bring 10 to 15 copies of their resume. Participants can also download free bus or train passes from Metro Transit.

Career fair founder, Sharon Smith-Akinsanya, appeared on KARE 11 at 11 to talk about the importance of the semi-annual event.

The career fair has the full support of Gov. Mark Dayton, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, Sen. Bobby Joe Champion and others Minnesota leaders.
