In Omaha, Nebraska some Parkinson’s patients are not only celebrating, they’re competing themselves. The special games include everything from passing the torch to curling to hockey. It’s all part of a “Delay The Disease” class.

Doctors say weekly exercising can help a patient’s brain reconnect with his or her hands, creating more control over tremors commonly associated with Parkinson’s. Research reveals the more patients use their brains in exercise, new pathways are formed between the mind and body.

Doctors say while exercise will not stop Parkinson’s, regular activity can slow down the symptoms.
