Every Friday morning, fifth graders at North Elementary in Princeton get to work.
It starts with a community meeting run by Mayor Kyle Burch, followed by a flurry of activity, including a run on the bank, and the Micro Community Store.
"This is Micro Community," says teacher Erin Engness, "and it came about actually at a different schol I worked at in a much smaller concept."
Engness and teaching partner Laura Skluzacek have expanded the concept to include a job interview process, jobs where students earn money, and plenty of opportunities to spend it, save it or invest it.
