The US Army Corps of Engineers says "failure is imminent" on walls both above and below the historic Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis.
The Corps wants to immediately repair them.
According to a news release sent Monday, erosion under the base of the walls leaves them in danger of failure, with gaps of as much as two feet under the concrete footings supporting the walls.
One portion of a wall near the top of the falls has already fallen.
The Army Corps of Engineers, and the Minnehaha Creek Watersheld District proposal would spend a million and a half dollars to fix 1,390 feet of wall on both sides of Minnehaha Creek.
The public has 30 days to comment on the proposal. Click here: Minnehaha Falls down to a trickle in August 2007Click here for more information from the watershed district
