WASHINGTON -- New campaign finance reports show that DFL challenger Al Franken raised nearly twice as much money as Republican Sen. Norm Coleman.
But Coleman still had a healthy advantage in cash going into the campaign's final weeks.
For the period Aug. 20 to Sept. 30, Franken raised just over $3 million, compared to $1.6 million for Coleman. At the end of the period, Coleman had just under $4 million in the bank, compared to $2.8 million for Franken.
