Caught on tape: Girl nearly falls over cliff
A huge scare in Oregon, caught on tape. A little girl was standing by a fence at Ecola State Park when she fell through a gap, leaving her clinging for her life some 150-feet off the ground.
It happened last summer, but the family just recently got a copy of the video that captured the moment. 3-year-old Alaina Pittin posed for a picture with her cousins when one little slip sent her tumbling through the fence they were leaning on. Just feet from going over a sheer 150 foot drop off the rocks below, Alaina grabbed onto the grass and weeds. Her cousin immediately jumped the fence and pulled her to safety.
Alaina's mom was standing right there and says it took her weeks before she stopped shaking. "That heart was pounding, and that terrifying feeling," she said. "I have never experienced a terrifying feeling like that before." Alaina's dad was too far away to see it. He said he didn't believe it was that bad. Then he watched the video tape. "I looked at it about two days later," he said. "And it made my heart stop just watching it on a little two inch screen."
Alaina says she remembers hanging for her life and getting rescued. "I was shaking. My tummy was shaking. My head was shaking. My arms were shaking. And my legs. My feet too." Oregon State park officials say they are taking a closer look at reinforcing the fence. (Copyright 2008 by CNN. All Rights Reserved.)
