33-year-old Nadya Suleman took her case to NBC's Ann Curry Friday, defending her decision to be implanted with six embryos while she was already parenting six children on her own.

"I wanted them all transferred. Those are my children. That is what was available and I used them. So I took a risk, it's a gamble, it always is," Suleman said.

Nadya gave birth to eight children. The smallest is at just one and a half pounds.

She is unemployed, and said, she wanted to surround herself with children because she grew up as an only child in a dysfunctional household.

"All I wanted was children, I wanted to be a mom, and it's all I ever wanted in my life," Suleman said.

But to be implanted with six embryos?

It is a decision many in the field find unethical.

"I think all of us in the field are incredulous at what has happened," embryologist Beth Williamson said.

Williamson is an embryologist at a Maple Grove clinic.

She said normal implantation is two embryos. She says six is absolutely never done.

"I don't know anyone in this area, in Minnesota, that would do that," Suleman said.

It is first and foremost, dangerous.

The chances that these eight children will live healthy lives, is remote.

It is facts like those that leave the world second guessing Suleman's sanity.

"I'm providing myself to my children. I love them unconditionally. Everything I do. I will stop my life for them and be present with them and hold them and be with them. And how many parents do that?" Suleman asked Curry.

Suleman says these octuplets and her other six children all share the same sperm donor who she does know personally.

She says she hopes that in time this man will want to be a part of her children's lives.
