ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Thousands of people rallied at the State Capitol Saturday against new taxes.

They want lawmakers to cut spending and not raise taxes.

The state faces a $4.6 billion budget deficit

The Minnesota House recently passed a bill with $1.5 billion in new taxes.

The state Senate passed a measure to boost taxes by more than $2 billion.

Governor Tim Pawlenty says he'll veto all of it.

"Last year, I set a record for the most vetoes of any governor in the state of Minnesota," says Pawlenty.

"We are not going to raise taxes in the state of Minnesota. This state is taxed enough," he adds.

Organizers also collected non-perishable food donations at the rally for local food shelves.
