2 killed in accident near Bemidji
FARDEN TOWNSHIP, Minn. -- Two people died in an accident near Bemidji on Thursday. The accident happened around 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 45 and County Road 9 in Farden Township Thursday, according to the Hubbard County Sheriff's Office. A pickup truck and sedan collided and then both vehicles collided into an electrical power box located in a field northeast of the intersection. Authorities identified the victims as 47-year-old Laird Hensel of Laporte, Minn. and 54-year-old Richard Bunker of Naytahwaush, Minn. Hensel, who was the driver of the pickup truck, was ejected from the truck. Bunker who was a passenger in the sedan was ejected from the sedan. Both were pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the sedan suffered injuries and was treated and released from North Country Hospital in Bemidji. The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the accident.
