ORTONVILLE, Minn. -- Firefighters are still on the scene of a stubborn fire that claimed two businesses on Ortonville's main street early Wednesday.
Emergency crews responded to a call at 4:38 a.m. and found two historic buildings ablaze. A witness reported hearing an explosion. Despite mutual aid and the best efforts of firefighters the buildings and the businesses they house could not be saved.
The fire impacted a full 1/3 of a city block.
One of the structures housed DCC Solutions, a telemarketing company that employs more than 90 people both full and part-time.
That building was destroyed, as was one next door housing a consignment store called 'Once and Again.' A Radio Shack store in an adjacent building suffered smoke and water damage, but the owner is planning on reopening as early as Wednesday at a vacant location across the street.
No one was injured. At this point, investigators are still trying to determine what set off the fire.
