Small plane hits turkey vulture, lands safely
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A Florida pilot had to make a quick landing after hitting a large bird with his small plane. The bird, which appears to be a turkey vulture, was embedded in the windshield of the Cessna plane. Officials say the pilot took off from the Ft. Lauderdale airport Monday, but then called the tower around noon to report a bird strike. The pilot landed safely at the airport. He was not seriously hurt. (Copyright 2009 by NBC.
