State Patrol: Maple Lake man struck and killed on Highway 24 Tuesday night

A Ford F-150 was driving southbound when it struck another motorist that was standing on the right shoulder, according to Minnesota State Patrol.

WRIGHT COUNTY, Minn. — A man was struck and killed while he was standing by the side of the road in Clearwater Township on Tuesday night, according to Minnesota State Patrol.

On Jan. 3 around 7:18 p.m., a Ford F-150 was reportedly driving southbound on Highway 24 just south of St. Cloud in the direction of a Chrysler Cirrus that was in a ditch on the right shoulder. 

The Ford truck hit the 36-year-old driver of the Chrysler while he was standing on the road's shoulder, officials said.

The Chrysler's driver, from Maple Lake, was declared dead at the scene.

Officials said the driver of the Ford, a 34-year-old man from Kimball, was not hurt.

Minnesota State Patrol said roads were icy at the time of the incident.
