REDWOOD FALLS, Minn. — Rescue crews are searching for a teen who was swept away by the current in the Redwood River on Sunday.

According to Redwood Falls police, a group of kids was swimming in the river when they reported that their friend had been swept away.

Police and fire crews responded to the river near the 100 block of West Bridge Street around 5:46 p.m. and started searching for 16-year-old Thunder Wambade Brothersofall.

Firefighters and police officers were stationed at the river through the night and a full air and ground search started again at 7 a.m. Monday.

The water in the river is high and moving fast. Police are asking the public to stay away from the riverbanks in and near Ramsey Park.

The Redwood Falls Fire and Police Departments, Redwood County Sheriff's Department, North Ambulance, Morton Fire Department and Minnesota State Patrol are all helping with the search.
