McDonald's offering delivery in the Twin Cities

You can now get McDonald's delivered with the help of Uber and yes, they're calling it "McDelivery."

MINNEAPOLIS -- You can now get McDonald's delivered in the Twin Cities with the help of Uber and yes, they're calling it "McDelivery."

Through a partnership with UberEATS, customers can now order their favorite Mickey D's menu items using the same account they use to get a lift around town.

Using the UberEATS app or on UberEATS.com, fast food fans can place an order, track it and get their meal delivered -- but it comes with a "booking fee" of $4.99 per order.

Monday marks the debut of this new service in the Twin Cities, with 19 metro locations participating.

The specific restaurants include nine in Minneapolis, six in St. Paul, two in St. Louis Park and one in Bloomington and Edina.

"McDonald's is a convenience food and partnering with Uber allows us to be more convenient with our customers," said Joshua Choate, a McDonald's owner/operator.

The expansion comes after a successful pilot in Florida earlier this year. More than 2,000 locations nationwide offer McDelivery with 3,500 expected by the end of June.

"There's a lot of demand for people getting food anywhere, at any time, for anyone," said Peter Forsberg, general manager of UberEATS Minneapolis/St. Paul. UberEATS has been in the Twin Cities metro since November 2016.

McDonald's is also offering a $5 discount for your first order, with the promo code MCDSMILE -- good until the end of the year.
