Prince's life and legacy honored during Celebration 2018

The event starts Thursday, the same day a decision will be announced on whether or not anyone will face criminal charges in Prince's death.

CHANHASSEN, Minn. -- It's been two years since the death of Minnesota and cultural icon Prince, but his legacy is living on in the state thanks to many celebrations of his life and music.

The latest will be the second year of a four-day special event at Paisley Park. Celebration 2018, held from April 19-22, will welcome fans to Prince's home for music, panel discussions and special presentations.

Musical guests include Sheila E, fDeluxe (formerly known as The Family), and a new group of Paisley Park and New Power Generation alumni. They will make their debut this weekend.

Highlighting the weekend is a concert event called PRINCE: Live on the Big Screen on Friday, April 20 at Target Center.

Never-before-released audio and video of Prince will be featured during the concert.

The four-day event will also include special guest speakers, including his friends and those he collaborated with creatively.

Celebration 2018 begins the same day as an announcement about whether or not criminal charges will be filed in connection to Prince's death. A toxicology report from Prince's autopsy showed he had "an exceedingly high" concentration of fentanyl in his body when he died on April 21, 2016.

Tickets to Celebration 2018 are almost sold out, but you can still purchase them on the Paisley Park website. You can also buy individual tickets to PRINCE: Live on the Big Screen on Target Center's website here.
