GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. — KARE 11 is making it easier than ever to prepare for severe weather no matter where you are, with new automated severe weather alerts in the KARE 11 app.
All you need to do is download the latest app update on your device, and you’ll automatically get a prompt to sign up for severe weather notifications.
If you miss that prompt, here’s how you get to it: Hit the settings button in the upper right, then choose "Notification Settings," followed by "Severe Weather Alerts." Then you can choose which alerts you want to receive, whether it's just warnings, watches and warnings, or all weather alerts.
Users will need to allow the app to use the device's location in order to receive the most accurate alerts.
