Castile rally outside St. Anthony PD

Hundreds of people gathered at the St. Anthony Police Department Sunday afternoon to protest the shooting death of Philando Castile.

ST. ANTHONY, Minn. - Hundreds of people gathered at the St. Anthony Police Department Sunday afternoon to protest the shooting death of Philando Castile.

Castile, 32, was shot and killed Wednesday night in Falcon Heights, during a traffic stop conducted by two St. Anthony police officers. The shooting has garnered worldwide attention and has spurred protests across the U.S.

After several speakers, people began to march through he streets of St. Anthony. The march was peaceful with many chanting and singing, blocking intersections and streets. The march ended without incident before 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday night, hundreds gathered to protest in St. Paul. What started as a peaceful demonstration, turned violent as some protesters threw objects at police. More than 100 protesters were arrested and more than 20 officers were injured. Traffic on Interstate 94, near Dale Street, was closed for more than five hours.
