Child injured after falling off the top of MOA escalator

A press release from the City of Bloomington states the fall was accidental and not the result of an escalator malfunction.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Bloomington Police and Mall of America Security responded to a an incident involving a child falling from an escalator Monday afternoon.

The 6-year-old child appeared to be alert and conscious, and he was transported to the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.

A press release from the City of Bloomington said that the child only appeared to have minor injuries.

Investigation at the scene determined the child was at the top of the escalator going down to Sea Life, when the fall occurred.
