Moorhead police seeking suspect after woman found dead in her home

Officials said a welfare check led officers to the grim discovery on Thursday night.

MOORHEAD, Minn. — Police have started a homicide investigation after finding the body of a woman in her Moorhead home. 

Officers were sent to the 3800 block of 32 Street South in Moorhead around 11 p.m. on Monday after family members requested a welfare check on a woman living there. 

Information provided to the media said officers found the woman dead and noted there were "traumatic injuries" on her body. Police said there were no signs of forced entry. 

The body was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, police said. 

Officials have not released any identifying information about the victim. 

Police are looking for a person of interest in this case, but said there was no danger to the public.
