ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Authorities in St. Cloud are still seeking the public's help in solving the killings of two sisters - nearly 42 years after their lifeless bodies were found with multiple stab wounds.

Stearns County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Bruce Bechtold tells WJON-AM that someone knows something about the deaths of Susanne and Mary Reker, and authorities still need witnesses to come forward.

The two girls went missing on Sept. 2, 1974. Mary was 15 and Susanne was 12 when the sisters left their family's home to go shopping at the nearby Zayre Discount Store, but never returned.

Their bodies were found in Quarry Park nearly a month later.

A new investigator was recently assigned to the cold case in hopes of bringing a fresh perspective. A reward of $50,000 is still being offered in the case.

Mary and Susanne Reker's father Fred passed away in 2012, but their mother Rita is confident the case will be solved in her lifetime.

Mary and Suanne's father Fred passed away in 2012, but their mother remains hopeful that her daughters' killer will be found while she is still alive.

"I honestly have hope in my lifetime that I will see it solved," Rita Reker told the St. Cloud Times on the 40th anniversary of Mary and Susanne's murder. "I'm not sure why, but I do."
