Family searches for answers after driver hits, kills dog

Sarah Barbouche says her backyard was the last place she thought her 8-year-old Siberian Husky, Prince, would lose his life.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - "Just come forth and apologize," said Sarah Barbouche. She and her family are suffering after a driver hit and killed their dog outside their Bloomington home.

Barbouche says her backyard was the last place she thought her 8-year-old Siberian Husky, Prince, would lose his life.

On Thursday night, Barbouche says she and her husband let "Prince" out in their backyard one more time before turning in for the night. That's when they say they witnessed the crash.

"Me and my husband were standing at the end of our driveway," she said.

They told Bloomington Police a two-door "Mazda-type car" from the late 1980's or early 90's, hopped the curb, knocked down their fence and hit "Prince".

The driver was last seen going east on 102nd toward Penn Avenue and Shakopee Road.

"I have a two-year-old daughter who loves to be outside and this is supposed to be our yard. A place she can feel comfortable in and not have to worry but with this happening, I'm concerned and I'm worried," she said.

Police say they are investigating because of the damage to the Barbouche's property which includes the death of their dog.

Investigators are following up on leads. However, They don't know what happened, or if this was an intoxicated or a distracted driver.

Community members have placed flowers here in honor of Prince and to let the family know they are thinking of them. They are hoping whoever did this just comes forward.

"Let us know what was happening", she said.

If you have any information regarding the incident, call Bloomington Police.
