LAKE COUNTY, Minnesota — The St. Louis County Rescue Squad says they are searching for a group of Girl Scouts in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area who were hit by lightning near an island on Knife Lake in Lake County.
The "six-person party experienced" a lightning strike and two individuals were hurt, according to a Facebook post from the St. Louis County Rescue Squad.
Crews on the ground are trying to locate the group.
A Minnesota State Patrol plane is trying to pinpoint the group's location.
A helicopter with a rescue team plans to search for the group at first light Saturday morning.
Authorities are operating out of the Pike Lake Emergency Operations Center.
