MINNEAPOLIS - The retirement announcement came at a perfect time.
Former Minnesota Twins star Joe Mauer and his wife, Maddie, welcomed a baby boy to their family on Wednesday, just days after the All-Star officially announced his retirement from the team.
According to the Pioneer Press and confirmed by the Twins communications director, the couple welcomed a healthy baby boy named Charles Joseph Mauer.
The Mauers also have twin 5-year-old girls, Emily and Maren.
