BLOOMINGTON, Minn — Catholic Charities Twin Cities is hosting its 30th annual Giving Tree event at the Mall of America on Saturday and Sunday.

The event is an opportunity for the community "to shop for someone in need, participate in quick volunteer activities, and learn more about the work of Catholic Charities," according to a press release from Catholic Charities Twin Cities. Giving Tree ends Dec. 18 at 9 p.m.

“The essential items donated through Giving Tree are critical in our efforts to support our neighbors across the Twin Cities as they work toward stability,” said  Keith Kozerski, chief program officer at Catholic Charities. “We invite you to join Giving Tree — a symbol of our shared commitment to the common good.”

Giving Tree assists Catholic Charities in providing resources such as housing and other direct services. Those attending the event have the chance to make cold-weather care packages for those in need, which include "socks, handwarmers, lip balm, tissues, and lotion."

The event is free for all to attend and is located at the Macy's Court in the Mall of America.
