MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — On Monday, the nation celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. But the federal holiday isn't for sitting back and relaxing — it's a day of service.
The volunteer organization, HandsOn Twin Cities outlined ways to move closer to Dr. King's vision of bridging division and strengthening our communities.
One of those ways is donating to a book drive. The drive is hosted by Way to Grow, a local nonprofit that works with parents and communities to help children prepare for school.
Giving a story can build knowledge and expose children to new cultures and ideas.
To donate, check out this link for the book wishlist. The registry is through Target and you can give through Jan. 31.
Way to Grow is also accepting gently used books and donated books from local stores. Check out the wishlist for what to give.
If you would like to give the gift of time, there are volunteer opportunities, too.
