Pracna on Main

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn - People visiting Pracna on Southeast Main Street in Minneapolis were surprised to see a sign that said, "Pracna on Main is closed." The restaurant is closed, for now. But not for long.

The property owner, John Rimarcik, told KARE 11 News the previous tenant didn't renew their lease. Rimarcik, who has owned the building for 21 years, said the previous tenants had occupied the space for 27 years.

Social media exploded Wednesday as people were under the impression the historic restaurant was closing for good. Rimarcik said there will be some changes but the rich history of Pracna will remain.

"If you take any of the nicer restaurants or businesses in town that have been open as long as that place has and you close there is always work to be done," he said Wednesday afternoon. "Pluming, painting and flooring --- those things will be done, but the Pracna part that is there presently will look the same."

Rimarcik said the current owners of Aster Café, which is housed in the same building on Southeast Main, will "manage the new place."

The restaurant will re-open this spring.
