Tattersall Distilling to close its cocktail room in northeast Minneapolis at the end of the year

In a statement on Monday, officials with Tattersall claim their rent payments didn't go through due to the landlord's IT system being "hacked."

MINNEAPOLIS — A month after allegations of unpaid rent, Tattersall Distilling announced it will be closing its cocktail room in northeast Minneapolis at the end of the year.

In a statement on Monday, officials with Tattersall claim their rent payments didn't go through due to the landlord's IT system being "hacked." The statement says both the distillery and the landlord are working to recover to money, but say they've agreed to leave at the end of its lease at the end of the year.

The full statement reads:

"In early January of 2024 it came to our attention that the rent payment we had made did not go to our landlord due to its IT system having been hacked. Both Tattersall and its landlord are still trying to recover the paid rent, but we have resolved and ended the eviction process and have agreed to continue moving forward with our existing lease while still pursuing the missing funds through authorities and insurance. One final piece of the agreement includes that we will vacate the property at the end of the current lease and not renew or extend the lease. With this being said, we will begin looking for other options for our cocktail room and distillery in Minnesota going forward, but this will sadly end our chapter in our current NE Minneapolis location at the end of the current year. We look forward to making the most of our 10th and final year in our original home and are excited to see what the future brings!"

According to court documents, the building's management company, JGS Management, LLC, claimed Tattersall Distilling has not made a rent payment for its space at 1620 Central Avenue Northeast since July 2023, amounting to a total unpaid balance of $121,717.64 as of Jan. 5. The complaint said the amount includes Tattersall's pro rata share of operating costs, real estate taxes and insurance premiums, as well as late fees and interest accrued for past-due payments.

Tattersall still has a distillery, cocktail bar and restaurant in River Falls, Wisconsin.
